Your browser will ask for camera access. Allow it, then you can record a swing.
A golf swing analyser is a tool that measures your motion — typically shoulder turn, hip turn, tempo and head movement — so you can see what the swing actually did, not what it felt like. Free Golf Swing does that in the browser, on your device, from a short camera recording.
Impact timing prefers the sound of the strike when the microphone is allowed. If it isn’t, the app uses peak wrist speed after the top of the swing. Either way, the video never has to leave the phone.
These are coaching reference ranges, not lab-grade launch-monitor numbers. Use them to spot a pattern across your own swings.
| Metric | What it means | Typical tour reference |
|---|---|---|
| Shoulder turn | How much the shoulders rotate from address to the top | About 90–110° |
| Hip turn | Pelvis rotation in the backswing | About 45–55° |
| Tempo | Backswing time divided by downswing time | About 3:1 |
| Head sway | How far the head moves during the swing | Usually under ~8 cm |
You can also compare a swing to stored history, or to simplified profiles labelled Tour Average, Jon Rahm and Nelly Korda. Those profiles are coaching benchmarks inside the app, not captured 3D models of those players.
Pose estimation runs in the browser with MediaPipe. Up to 20 swings can be saved in IndexedDB on this device. Optional AI tips send metric numbers only — not the video — to a text model. Read the full privacy policy.
This is a free practice tool. It is not a launch monitor, not legal medical advice, and not a substitute for a qualified PGA professional.
Yes. There is no sign-up and no subscription. Hosting is static. Pose tracking runs on your device. Optional coaching text uses a free public endpoint and falls back to a local tip if that fails.
Yes — Safari and Chrome on iPhone, and desktop browsers, over HTTPS. Use freegolfswing.co.uk or freegolfswing.com; both names are for this same analyser. On iPhone, allow camera in Settings if the prompt does not appear, and record in good light with your full body in frame.
No. Analysis is on-device. History stays in the browser until you clear it. See privacy.
It is an estimate from a single camera and a lightweight pose model. Lighting, framing, lens distortion and clothing all affect it. Treat trends (your swing vs last week) as more useful than a single degree reading.
Many tour players sit near a 3:1 ratio: the backswing takes about three times as long as the downswing. The analyser reports your ratio so you can tell if the downswing is rushing or the backswing is dragging.
